Back on Track!

Here we go. I am finally getting back on track. At least as far as working out goes. I don't have the best support system on my diet and I am really struggling to fight temptations daily. Hoping that my BF will stop bringing sweets home. Lets face it at least once a Month I'm a SUCKER for sweets! So to get to the point of this post I am now at the point in my program where I will be running again. WOOT!! As further motivation I am all signed up for the Spartan Beast in December! Can't wait! It's going to be a huge challenge and I can't wait. So, since I have just  begun Phase 2 I've include a before and after Pic from Phase 1.

Run/Walk all of June

Hey all! Just updating. So far this month I have either ran or walked everyday. I've noticed that I burn more calories by walking now though... is that right? According to Ismoothrun it seems to be the case. Well today I ran 3 miles then I hiked about another mile before heading back to my car. It was a great day for a run/walk/hike. Perfect weather and temperature. I've also lost 2lbs in the last week, which is great. that means I only have 8 more to lose to reach my current goal of a 10lb weight loss. Granted I would love to lose a lil more too. Anyway there's my update. Check out my colorful run today :)

Finally Recovering!

Getting ready to head out for Sunday run. It is great to finally be over injuries and illness. I have had terrible luck so far this year with all that. I'm hoping that's behind me so I can really focus on getting in shape rather than getting well enough to get in shape. This year has been a rough one with many set backs. I am trying to stay positive. It's soooo hard! Thankfully music is always there for me and helps me get going when I'm down. So for now it's time to pound some pavement!

It's Been A While!!! ColorMeRad2013

Hey all, It's been a bit since I have posted. I sprained my ankle and am finally getting well enough to work out again. The Good news is that I have not gained any weight. In fact it turns out that my scale is off about 5lbs and I've actually lost weight. According to the scale in the doctors office. Since I have not been running so much I have started boxing classes which I have really liked and have proved to kick my butt every time. If I am going to go for a run it will have to be prior to any boxing class that's for sure. I'm always dead after!

Today however, I ran/walked a 5k with a couple of friends. We did the Color Me Rad in Fort Worth. It was a lot of fun despite the sunburns we all got. It was a great time. We ran a good portion of it, but so many people were walking it was just getting difficult to get around the crowds so we just fell in. Enjoy the photos and if you get a chance to do one of these they are a lot of messy, colorful fun with friends!

#RunningForBoston

Well, lets face it a lot of us runners dream of running the Boston Marathon. For me that hasn't changed. I figured I will peak in my 30s and make that qualifying time. Now, will I go after what has happened? Will there still be a Boston Marathon. Well, I hope so and if there is I will be there! Everyday in other countries there are bombings and we may or may not hear about them. We are very fortunate that we live here and when something like this happens, it may only happen once as we figure out more ways to prevent similar "terrorist attacks". I feel for the families and friends of the victims and the victims themselves. I hope that we find the one or ones responsible for this and that justice is served, until then I will keep #RunningForBoston.

Friggin Finally!

March was the longest month ever! However I won't go into detail on the ups and mostly downs of March. Instead I will keep this post on fitness. I slacked a lot given the circumstances and it shows. I ran a half marathon the other weekend. The Rock N Roll Dallas half marathon. It was a lot of fun, but my lack in training left me feeling the pain a lot sooner during the run than I would have liked. I managed to stay well above my desired pace for the first 10 miles... then BAM! hit the wall. I made it though even if I drastically slowed down, but I finished only 10 minutes behind my goal time so I can't complain too much. With  this month things have finally settled down and my fitness is able to be more of a priority. Can't wait to see some results.

Dash for the Beads 5k

 This morning I ran the Dash for the Beads 5k. This was probably the most challenging 5k I have done, because of the HUGE HILLS. I managed to finished around 33 min. If there were no hills I imagine I would have under 30 min. It was pretty cold. Though the temperature said 48 degrees F, thanks to the wind in felt much colder.  Overall though I would say it was a nice run. One thing I don't like though is the races where people bring their untrained dogs. If they were trained I wouldn't have a problem, but the ones that aren't tend to get in the way of all the other runners.  I'll let you guess where all the hills were based on my Split times. really think I would have done a lot better without the hills.

Getting it back.

FINALLY over being sick! YAY! Unfortunately, I was unable to workout Tuesday due to the rain, but yesterday I was got in 4 miles and today I got my 3 in. It was super nice today, a bit cold yesterday but I was able to enjoy it none the less. 







Now for other news. It's January 31st so weigh in day. I have lost 5lbs this month and can't wait to see my results after next month. Can't really tell by the pics but hopefully by the end of next month the results will be showing.

Sick Dayz

I've been sick since Wednesday evening. Had a sore throat after that 4 mile run. The next morning I woke up feeling like death. I am still sick today so I have not done any of my runs or other workouts since Wed. It sucks I really hate getting off schedule on my runs and workouts. Well I just know I have to listen to my body and try to get better. It would be much easier if I could stay home and actually rest instead of going to work. Oh well! Hoping to feel well enough by Tuesday for my 3 mile run. Skipping my soccer game tonight as well for some extra rest. All I have planned today since I'm done with work is laundry and grocery shopping then back to resting. And maybe a doctor visit.... keep debating on that one.

BOBCATS?!

Went for a 3 mile run today before I headed to the Chiropractor. Interesting visit that was (my first ever). I learned my right leg is shorter than my left and yet somehow my right shoulder sits higher than my left... Weirdness. Anyway, back to the run. It was a nice, easy run. Just a quick 3 miles and this lovely warning about sharing the trails with the wildlife.
I totally knew there were Bobcats there, just never had it confirmed. I have seen a fox, coyote, raccoons, armadillos, rabbits, snakes and of course the usual birds and all that. So yay, running with and hopefully never from the wildlife.

After all my doctor appts. today I worked on finishing up my new race medal hanger. Turned out pretty good thought I will probably need to make another one or add some more pegs.

Saturday 6 miler

Went for a 6 mile run Saturday. Turned out to be a great day with awesome weather much like today. Lots of people were out running which is always nice to see. Though there was a hobo walking down the sidewalk and when I yelled On the Left. He stopped and turned left. So, I then had to go to the right. lol Welp I am headed out for a bike ride before my soccer games. Happy Sunday!

3 Miles before Dark!

Today I managed to get my 3 miles in before the sun went down. WHOOP! Yesterday's 4 mile run started late and was dark before I even got half way through, with rabbits and armadillos making good to trip me. After my run today I cooked up some broiled tilapia parmesan. YUM! Time to eat.

Texas "Snow Day" Run


Today's run was pretty cold. We had snow this morning but by this afternoon when I was headed for my run it was all gone. That's Texas for ya. The photo on the left is from this morning. The Photo on the right is from my run this evening.Oh how quickly it changes. The trails were empty today. Everyone must have been bundled up at home with hot chocolate. Still, despite the cold I got in my three miles and hauled as the last mile as it started getting dark. Tomorrow I've got 4 miles scheduled. Getting ready for the Rock 'n' Roll Half Marathon in March.

Weekend Recap

Texas took a turn for the cold. Saturday I managed to get a 5 mile run in after the rain, but before the cold. Had a 1 hour window between the two and I got lucky with my timing. It was a nice run, just hate cross walks. My time wasn't great due to people asking for directions, but I am just glad I got the time to run. Today I had a soccer game, which we won so we are on to the championship! yay! That's all for now. tomorrow is a much needed rest day. GO RUN!

Is that the SUN?!

First sunny day in what seemed like FOREVER (three days)! None the less I was finally able to get out and run. Though, I did contemplate running in the rain. Not like that would have been the first time. I did the Dallas White Rock Half Marathon Dec. 6th 2011 in the cold and rain and ohhh man! Then I figured it wasn't worth being put out for more than a few rainy days by catching a cold so I held off. Today's run was 3 miles. Didn't want to jump back in with too much distance plus it gets dark too early to get much more in after battling traffic. Arg! Despite the only being able to get 3 miles in it was a nice run. Everyone was out at the park today, and I saw a cardinal, rabbit, and armadillo those effers are FAST! Gotta soak up the sun while we can since tomorrow looks to be another rainy one. We shall see. Fingers crossed I get a run in before the rain. Last weekend I was able to get a 4 miler in on Saturday and had a soccer game on Sunday which we one. Weekends are difficult for me to post since I tend to avoid the computer unless looking something fun up. :P Till next time, Happy Running!

Today was my second run of 2013. Unfortunately it should have been my third but due to a late work day yesterday looks like I'll be making my off day from training (tomorrow) my third. Hopefully there won't be snow for that run even though the forecast says other wise. Crazy Texas!

12/31/12 Weigh In

Okay, so my post is a day late... Well here it is. Current weight as of 12/31/12 is 156.2  lbs (yes i'm a fatty) at 5'6" . Went for my first run of 2013 today. Getting back into the swing of things. The good news is that I only gained 2 lbs during the holidays. Still though, over all I am about 10 lbs heavier than I was at this time in 2012 so I need to drop a minimum of 10 lbs... Here We Go!


Not great pics, but you get the point. I know I am not the first to do this and I won't be the last. Sorry for lack of originality. Just hoping this helps with my focus. First run of 2013... I did about a mile and a half. although I was supposed to do 3 miles. Thanks to my killer headache I had to cut it short. Tomorrow's run will be 3 miles. Aside from that, I have cleaned out my fridge and filled it with only healthy options. #BeastMode
